When you visit Barcelona, you can not miss the most read newspaper in town.
‘Metro ‘ is the most popular newspaper in Barcelona. The newspaper is distributed worldwide but it has in Barcelona alone around 354,000 daily readers!
It is amazing to see that it became the most read free newspaper in Barcelona only eight months after its launching.
‘Metro’ publishes articles in 2 languages, Spanish and Catalan. This shows how much it is reflecting the strong cultural identity of the region. For those who are not familiar with the Catalan language, it is spoken in Catalonia which is the industrial heartland of Spain.
The newspaper is unique also in the staff members who are mostly young and enthusiastic, not to mention the lack of male-dominance in the team!
Metro , the international newspaper group, is one of the world’s largest free newspapers, publishing and distributing 21 editions in 15 countries in 13 languages: Stockholm (Metro), Prague (Metro), Gothenburg (Metro), Hungary (Metro), the Netherlands (Metro), Helsinki (Metro), Malmö (Metro), Santiago (Publimetro), Philadelphia (Metro), Zurich (Metropol), Toronto (Metro Today), Rome (Metro), Buenos Aires (Publimetro), Milan (Metro), Warsaw (Metropol), Athens (Metrorama), Montreal (Metro), Barcelona (Metro Directe), Boston (Metro), Madrid (Metro Directo) and Copenhagen (MetroXpress).

I only had 3 minutes to answer the question: Where would you like to be at New Year’s Eve?
I quickly tried to imagine the most famous ones: from New York Times Square to London, from Berlin to Bahamas, without thinking of budget, of course.
Or maybe Rio de Janeiro: at Copacabana beach the celebrations are the largest in the world. Or at Salt Spring Island, in Canada for the Annual Polar Bear Swim, with water around 4-6C and a Coast Guard offshore and refreshments….
My reply was: Reykjavik Iceland. And you know why? I am fond of fireworks and here almost every family fires its own fireworks. And the deep night becomes one of the biggest firework-shows in the world. Over 1000 tons of fireworks to make you hope in a better New Year.
But, as you well know, there are many more alternatives to Iceland!

garden
One of the most well known parks in the city of Paris, the Jardin du Luxembourg is a perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon with friends or family. The Jardin du Luxembourg began as a private park in the early 17th century, but was later opened to the public in the 19th century, and has been a favorite spot for the citizens of Paris ever since. The park is done in the classical French garden style throughout, from its statuary and fountains, to the meticulously manicured hedges and flower gardens. Strolling through the many pathways, you will be transported back in time to the Paris of centuries past, and will discover why the local Parisians adore this park so much. There are a number of famous statues to see when visiting, including the Statue of Saint Genevieve; there is also a pair of Baroque fountains, the Fontaine de Medicis and the Fontaine de l’Observatoire. The grand Palais du Luxembourg caps the park at one end, and walking tours are available both of the garden grounds, as well as the palace itself.
