The most wild national park in Italy: Valgrande

January 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

<sdfAn extraordinary treasure trove of nature and history. This is the correct definition for Valgrande, that vast mountainous territory between Lake Maggiore and the Val d’Ossola, increasingly rediscovered by scientists, naturalists and hikers. National Park since 1991, the Valgrande is a departure from decades of neglect and can be considered as the largest wild area in Italy, it is devoid of lines of communication inside, except for old mule tracks and footpaths impervious that allow you to know, in a landscape full of charm and contrast, the distinguishing marks of a strong human presence: alpine, cable remains and memories of the Resistance period.
